We large-city girls sometimes don't realize how much we take Sephora for granted. I didn't realize until recently when I mentioned the beauty megastore to my twentysomething cousin; even though she lives in upstate New York (just hours from NYC), she had never even heard of the place!

If you're in the same boat, here's some exciting news: Starting in the spring, Sephora is going to be installing beauty vending machines in 20 small JCPenney locations that don't have full makeup counters. Accessible via credit and debit card, they'll vend some of our favorite brands, like Bare Escentuals, Smashbox and Dior.

Still, while they're more convenient than ordering stuff online, I'm assuming these vending machines can't mimic Sephora's biggest draw: You can try everything before you buy. If they can figure out how to do that, I bet the machines will be a huge hit.

Do you have a Sephora in your town? If not, have you visited one elsewhere? What did you think? Where do you guys do most of your beauty shopping these days?
